Katy was born in Seattle and raised in Southern California, she skied and surfed her way through life until college. After a few degrees she settled on Enology and Viticulture at UC Davis. She spent the following 10 years working in California as a winemaker while ski patrolling on weekends in Lake Tahoe. Her tours of duty included Robert Mondavi, Benzinger, Geyser Peak, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, and of course not to leave out her favorite experience of all (beside owning Tildio) The Yalumba Winery in the Barossa Valley in Australia.
In 2001 she moved to Woodinville to work for Chateau Ste. Michelle and met Milum. They have been focused on building their dream life together ever since.
Milum is the son of an Army Engineer whose work took the family on a wild ride around the USA and the world including Germany, Greece and Thailand.
After attending the University of California at Santa Barbara, a passion for the outdoors led to many years of outdoor adventure and athletic competition. His love of wine started after sampling the Zinfandels of Amador County whose dry farmed vineyards he used to ride his bike near.
Starting Tildio from the ground up has been a great experience providing the roots that a traveling lifestyle never did.
